The Norwegian National Preventive Mechanism against Torture and Ill-Treatment (NPM) has published its report from two visits to Tønsberg police custody facility conducted in October 2014.
Today, the Norwegian National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) published the report from its visit to Tromsø prison on 10-12 September 2014.
The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the Norwegian Parliamentary Ombudsman and the Council of Europe, is pleased to extend an invitation to a conference on "The effects of international monitoring mechanisms to prevent torture and ill-treatment of persons deprived of their liberty" to be held on 28 October 2014 in Oslo.
On 24 April 2014, the Parliamentary Ombudsman arranged a public consultation meeting on the NPM. The purpose of the meeting was to provide information on the terms of reference and principles on which the work of the NPM would be based, and to invite responses from a broad range of organisations and institutions.
