The Parliamentary Ombudsman launched a new website on 1 October 2008. Our aim has been to make the site as user-friendly and accessible as possible. The website has been developed in accordance with the WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative) guidelines on accessibility.
This section outlines the Parliamentary Ombudsman’s processing of personal data registered via www.sivilombudsmannen.no and the procedures in place for handling electronic inquiries.
To enable us to develop and improve our website we use Google Analytics, which is a service for web analyses supplied by Google, Inc (”Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies” (information capsules), which are small files containing a string of characters that are sent to your computer. This is done in order to help the website to analyse how users use the website. The information that the cookie collects about your use (including your IP address) is sent to Google and stored on the company’s servers in the United States. Google uses this information for the purpose of assessing your use of the website, creating reports for the owner of the website about activities on the website, and for providing other services in connection with activity on the website and use of the Internet. Google may also transfer this information to third parties if Google is under a legal obligation to do so or if the third party in question processes the information on Google’s behalf.
Google will not combine your IP address with other information in Google’s possession. You may decline to use cookies on your machine by making the necessary adjustments to your web browser. Please note however that if you do so, you may not be able to use all the functions provided on the website. In using the website you agree that Google may process information about you in the way and for the purposes outlined above.
The Parliamentary Ombudsman uses this information to produce statistics of traffic to the website and it will not be used to identify individuals. The statistical information will not be combined with data from other sources.
E-mail has weaknesses in terms of security. E-mail should therefore be used only for simple questions. Please do not send inquiries containing sensitive information or information of a private nature by e-mail.
