Keywords: Financial support for subsistence, complaint against decision, the County Governor.
Peder applies for financial support for subsistence. His application was granted, but he received much less than he had counted on. He is of the opinion that the decision is incorrect and that the social security office made an error when processing his case. Peder asks if he can submit a complaint to the Parliamentary Ombudsman.
The social services’ decision must first be appealed to the County Governor. This access to appeal must be used first before the Parliamentary Ombudsman can process the case. In the first instance, therefore, Peder must appeal the decision to the County Governor.
Peder sends a complaint to the social services, but they maintain the decision and send the case on to the County Governor. Peder’s appeal is also rejected by the County Governor.
Now that the County Governor’s final decision has been passed, Peder may submit a complaint to the Parliamentary Ombudsman. He makes sure that his complaint is submitted within the time limit of one year (calculated from the date of the County Governor’s decision).
Peder finds that it is easier to use the Ombudsman’s Complaints Form. He prints out the form from the Parliamentary Ombudsman’s website, completes the form and attaches a copy of the County Governor’s decision. He then sends the Complaints Form and the attachment to the Parliamentary Ombudsman’s postal address: The Parliamentary Ombudsman, P.O. Box 3 Sentrum, 0101 OSLO.
